We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Director of Catering to join the team at Hotel Shattuck Plaza, a historic luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of Downtown Berkeley. This is not a role for someone who simply wants to maintain an existing book of business. We are looking for a motivated hospitality sales professional who is excited to actively grow catering revenue, build strong community relationships, and create memorable guest experiences. Our ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, outgoing, organized, and passionate about hospitality. A well-suited candidate will thrive on networking, prospecting new business opportunities, and collaborating closely with operations teams to ensure flawless event execution from start to finish. The Key Responsibilities Prospect and generate new catering and event business through outside sales efforts, networking, and community involvement Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, universities, organizations, and social clients Sell meeting space, catering services, and group event opportunities Conduct site tours, client meetings, and networking events to drive revenue growth Manage the full event sales cycle from prospecting through execution Prepare proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, and related event documentation Collaborate closely with Sales, Banquets, Culinary, and Operations teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences Maximize revenue opportunities through strategic selling and upselling initiatives Maintain strong communication with clients throughout the planning and execution process Participate in community and industry events to represent the hotel and generate new business opportunities The Model Qualifications Previous hotel catering sales or hospitality sales experience strongly preferred Delphi experience preferred Strong sales, networking, and relationship-building skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated, energetic, and results-driven Passion for hospitality and guest service excellence Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business levels require If this sounds like a fit, we'd love to hear from you!
