We own two premier club properties: Spanish Hills Club and The Huntington Club. We work in a very collaborative team environment where our process culture of "Plan, Communicate, Track, Evaluate & Adjust" is applied to every decision our team makes, so that we can succeed as a team. It's an exciting time to join our clubs and we are currently seeking an Events Sales Manager to join our team at Spanish Hills Club.
Schedule :
: Holidays / Weekends / 5 days per week (days vary) How You Will Make a Difference The Events Sales Manager is responsible for promoting the club's dining facilities for private banquets, business and social meetings and other activities. Develop contracts for and oversees all administrative and operational aspects of preparing and serving events. Work with banquet and other departments to assure that the guests' expectations are consistently exceeded. How you will do it Helps members and guests arrange banquets, luncheons, meetings, weddings, dances, and other social events; obtains pertinent information needed for guest planning. Suggests and helps guests plan menus in conjunction with the Executive Chef or other culinary personnel. Transmits necessary information to and coordinates event planning as needed across all departments. Inspects finished arrangements; may be present to oversee the introduction of event host to Banquet Captain and or Manager. Review Banquet Event Orders against actual room setup; oversees personnel scheduling for special functions and may help supervise service personnel. Oversees scheduling of food and beverage service employee meetings. Ensures all participating vendors meet venue parameters and criteria. Recruit, mentor and provide training/disciplinary action to department staff. Obtains necessary permits for special events and functions. Arranges prompt payment for all events. Directs the work of catering department staff. Ensures that proper housekeeping and energy conservation procedures are always followed. Diagrams room layout, banquet item placement and related function details. Manages banquet billing and client correspondence. Update weekly function information for all departments Serves as liaison between kitchen, service, and management staff. Maintains club's master calendar and function book. Execution-Sales Promotes, advertises, and markets the club's social event facilities and capabilities to all members. Provides guest tours and offers suggestions in efforts to sell the club's facilities for the occasion being planned and golf tournaments Maintains past and potential client files; schedules calls or visits to assess on-going needs of prospective clients for catering services. Maintain constant communication with the General Manager to address customer/member concerns and barriers to closing sales. Execution-Relations & Retention Handles client complaints. Consistently exceed client and member needs, following up and resolving issues in a timely manner. Marketing/Business Planning Helps develop catering budgets; reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions as appropriate to help assure that budget goals are met. Attends management meetings to review policies and procedures, future business and to continually develop quality and image of banquet and catering functions. Works with the Executive Chef to determine banquet prices, menus and other details for catered events; oversees the development of contracts; assures that pre-planned banquet menu offerings are current. Tracks new products and trends in food service and catering applicable to the club. Performs competitive "shopping" of alternative function sources. Critiques functions to determine future needs and to implement necessary changes for increased quality. Plans professional development and training activities for subordinate staff. Works with the General Manager and Management Team to determine operations on pricing, offerings, programming, marketing, communication, and value-added benefits. Promotes club activities using, newsletters, direct mail flyers, electronic communications, and other means. Serves as manager on duty as scheduled. Community Relations Maintains active involvement in community and industry organizations; regularly attends and actively participates in meaningful networking events. Establishes communication with competitive set and establishes relationships and partnerships within the community. Participates in industry activities, community activities, employee activities and customer events as deemed necessary and appropriate by Management. Networks with members, guests, and the community to maximize leads and referrals, maintaining relationships with previous event hosts and Members. The Events Sales Manager will be required to execute other duties not listed above as assigned by Spanish Hills Club's team or the General Manager. Skills for Success Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Effectively communicate with guests and employees in a friendly and positive manner. Consistently exceeds client needs. Follow-up and resolves issues in a timely manner. Strong sales skills required including experience with cold calling. Excellent communication, customer service and leadership skills. Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of golf preferred. Knowledge of ClubEssential preferred. Enjoy asking for business, referrals and closing business. College degree preferred. Minimum (2) years of related experience in Catering and Events position(s) within the golf, hospitality, and/or service industries, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
