This position will be responsible for the selling, planning, detailing, and support of all catering events, as well as driving guest loyalty by delivering a thoughtful and engaging sales and event planning experience. Responsibilities Sell, negotiate, detail and service all catering events. Including, but not limited to, business development and solicitation, hosting site inspections, menu planning, agenda setting, group event detailing and service, catering event contract and all BEO preparation, review, and processing. Partner with the Banquets team and outside vendors to coordinate the Catering support services (flowers, entertainment, decoration, A/V, etc.) and meeting room setup requirements to provide the highest service levels and client satisfaction. Act as the liaison between the client and operating departments to ensure a successful meeting, and to generate repeat business. Actively update and properly document all client contact information, leads, inquiries, turndown business, client conversations and interactions in Delphi. Maximize Catering revenues by developing and implementing strategies to increase business and upsell existing events. Have an active involvement in the establishment of catering sales goals and forecasts, and work consistently to achieve them. Establish and maintain communication with clients prior to events to initiate, negotiate, and close contracts for all catered functions. Cultivate effective relationships with preferred vendors and local event planners. Facilitate communication before, during, and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service.
Fundamentals Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of work experience within Catering Sales or Event Management, a proven advancement record and currently or recently employed in a management position. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are vital to effectively negotiate, influence, persuade and sell. Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, requirements and translating these into sales solutions. Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and can perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed. Skilled in the use of computer and software programs associated with Sales and Catering, such as Delphi, and hotel property management systems. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends and holidays, as dictated by the event schedule and business needs. Fulfills Manager-on-Duty shifts, as needed. Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
