Job Description
About AliveTek & Prevent.
Zone AliveTek is an award-winning eLearning company and Prevent.
Zone is its flagship product line: a suite of evidence-based, online prevention education courses that help colleges and universities keep students safe. For more than a decade, Prevent.
Zone has delivered engaging, customizable training to over a million students on topics including alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence prevention, hazing prevention, fire safety, health and wellness, and human trafficking awareness. Every course is handcrafted in our own eLearning studio and tailored to each institution's policies, resources, and local laws. This work matters. Every course we build helps a student recognize danger, make a safer choice, or find help when they need it. We're a small, entrepreneurial company with an outsized mission and real momentum — a place where good ideas get heard, ownership is rewarded, and the people who join us care deeply about the difference the work makes. The Role We're looking for a Director of Sales & Marketing to own revenue growth across the Prevent.
Zone product line and build our marketing function from the ground up. This is a true player-coach role: you'll carry a book of business and close deals yourself while leading and developing a small team that wins alongside you. You'll own both sales and marketing and shape a sales-led marketing engine built around campaigns and events rather than long-horizon SEO — the kind of focused, relationship-driven engagement that wins in higher education. We're hiring for today's needs, but we're equally interested in someone with the judgment, curiosity, and ambition to grow into a VP or executive leader as the company scales. Most of all, we're looking for someone who believes in the work. Prevent.
Zone exists to keep students safe, and the leader who thrives here will be one who can champion that cause — to clients, to the team, and in the market — because they genuinely share it. If you're energized by a small business with a big purpose, ready to roll up your sleeves and build something, and moved by a mission you can stand behind, we'd love to talk. What You'll Do Champion the cause. Be a credible, passionate advocate for Prevent.
Zone 's mission — carrying the vision into every client conversation, every campaign, and every team meeting. The right leader sells because they believe. Own the number. Set, meet, and exceed sales goals for growth — and personally close consultative B2B SaaS deals in the higher education market. Lead from the front. Work side by side with your team to model great selling, guide deals, and coach to the next level. Run the marketing function. Design and run a sales-led marketing engine focused on campaigns and event-based engagement that feed the pipeline directly, contributing creatively to content and messaging, owning the annual marketing plan and budget, and measuring spend and campaign effectiveness. Develop the team. Lead your marketing and sales team, identify core talent, build on individual strengths, and propose smart staffing strategies as we grow. Motivate and coach people who can eventually succeed without you. Sharpen sales strategy. Evaluate current processes and strategy for effectiveness, then pivot and improve with a bias toward action when something isn't working. Bring discipline to the pipeline and design incentive and reward programs grounded in the psychology of selling. Maximize conferences and events. Turn industry conferences into pipeline — growing the network and closing new business. Partner cross-functionally. Work closely with product development to prioritize the feature and product updates that best drive sales and serve our institutional clients. Think like an owner. Bring strategic judgment to where the company goes next — talent, culture, systems, retention, and market positioning — not just this quarter's quota. What You Bring Sales & business development 3-5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in higher education or SaaS Proven SaaS sales success in complex markets, with a track record of setting and exceeding growth goals A genuine closer with strong presentation and consultative selling skills Bias toward action: you evaluate what's working, fix what isn't, and improve Marketing Strong understanding of how marketing and sales reinforce each other, with a sales-led, campaign-and-event mindset Experience leading or building marketing campaigns, content, and messaging. Comfort with annual marketing planning, budgeting, and analyzing campaign effectiveness A track record of turning conferences and events into real business Leadership A genuine player-coach mindset — you lead by example and guide by working alongside Experience building and managing collaborative teams, with a desire to motivate and develop people Confidence in business operations and an ability to keep things simple rather than over-complicate Sound staffing judgment: you can spot talent, build on it, and structure a team for growth Who You Are Mission-driven. You connect with why Prevent.
Zone matters and can lead from a place of genuine belief in the work. You'll be the cause's strongest advocate, and that conviction comes through in how you sell, market, and lead. Ambitious and driven by goals, with the leadership potential to grow into a bigger role High emotional intelligence — good with people, patient and kind, but not a pushover An entrepreneurial spirit who's energized (not put off) by a small business A strong storyteller and communicator who can motivate a room Someone who listens and learns before leaping, then leaps with confidence Strategic about change — you understand what needs to come first instead of trying to fix everything at once Hard-working and hands-on, with a sense of humor and contagious energy A continuous learner in both management and business development Curious about the whole business, not just sales — with the ownership mentality, resilience, and judgment of a future executive Travel This role involves approximately 25% travel for conferences, client meetings, and industry events. Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package including base salary plus performance-based incentives, health and wellness benefits, paid time off, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at a mission-driven company. As a small, growing organization, we offer something larger companies often can't: real ownership, direct access to leadership, and a clear path to grow your career as the company grows.
