A Business Development Manager (BDM) must bridge the gap between technical engineering and high-level sales strategy. Requiring a deep understanding of fluid dynamics, hydraulics, and specific pump applications. In this role, you will identify new business opportunities, build key partnerships, and expand our client base to increase revenue. As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the full sales cycle—from prospecting to closing—and will act as a key representative of our brand. The ideal candidate has technical knowledge, an entrepreneurial mindset, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to long-term growth. Core Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Background :
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Preferred Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience in rotating equipment.
Industry Knowledge :
Proficiency in Hydraulic Institute Standards and Rotating Equipment (pumps)
Sales Experience :
5 years outside Industrial sales in a leadership role, with a focus on value-based or consultative selling .
Field Presence :
Willingness to travel frequently (often 50% or more) to oversee territory teams and meet clients face-to-face. This could include overnight stays to minimize wasted travel time. (infrequent). Attend product training at manufacturer facilities as required. (infrequent). Attend sales meetings. Team Leadership & Management Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and onboard Outside Sales Representatives to build an elite, high-performing sales force.
- Accompany team members client meetings to model best practices and close deals.
- Set clear territory sales goals , conduct regular performance reviews, and implement strategies to increase market penetration Key Responsibilities for Leading an Outside Team
Specification Influence :
Building relationships with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms to ensure our brands are specified into new projects.
Full Cycle Management :
Overseeing the team's entire process from lead qualification and on-site customer visits to selecting/sizing equipment and proposal negotiation and final closing.
Market Strategy :
Identifying new segments and developing territory-specific growth plans.
Technical Support :
Acting as a primary contact for product selection. Utilizing internal resources as required. Providing product training for both staff and clients. Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation:
Research, identify, and contact new potential clients via cold calling, networking, and digital outreach to build a robust pipeline.
Client Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new, existing, and lost clients to encourage repeat business.
Strategic Growth Planning:
Analyze market trends and competitor activity to develop and implement strategies for entering new markets or launching new services.
Negotiation & Closing:
Lead negotiations with potential partners, prepare detailed proposals, and close deals that align with company financial goals. . SKILLS

Work closely with sales and operations teams to align sales strategies and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
