This role serves as the primary sales leader for the location and is accountable for driving revenue growth, increasing profitability, developing high-performing sales professionals, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. The Director of Sales will oversee daily store operations with a strong focus on sales leadership, accountability, talent development, merchandising execution, and strategic business planning. This position is designed to function similarly to a traditional furniture store manager role while emphasizing sales culture and performance leadership. Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Business Performance Drive overall store sales volume, average ticket, protection sales, financing penetration, and profitability goals Monitor and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance metrics Develop and execute action plans to achieve company sales objectives and KPI targets Coach and motivate the sales team to improve closing performance, customer engagement, and product knowledge Lead by example through professional selling behaviors and customer interactions Conduct regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and one-on-one coaching sessions Team Development & Accountability Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain top sales talent Establish clear performance expectations and maintain accountability across the sales team Create individualized development plans to improve employee growth and performance Foster a positive, high-energy, customer-focused sales culture Address performance concerns promptly and professionally through coaching and corrective action when necessary Maintain staffing levels that support business needs and customer experience standards Merchandising & Showroom Management Ensure the showroom reflects company merchandising standards and brand presentation expectations Merchandise the sales floor to highlight best-selling products, key promotions, and lifestyle presentations Maintain strong showroom flow, product placement, signage, and visual appeal Partner with ownership and leadership teams on floor resets, new product placement, and seasonal updates Monitor inventory presentation and identify opportunities to improve floor productivity Operations & Customer Experience Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency and operational excellence Ensure customers receive a seamless and professional shopping experience from initial greeting through delivery follow-up Support resolution of customer service concerns and escalations when needed Maintain compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards Collaborate with service, distribution, and administrative teams to support overall business performance Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of retail sales management experience Proven track record of driving sales growth and leading high-performing teams Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills Experience recruiting, training, and developing sales professionals Understanding of retail KPIs, P&L awareness, and sales reporting Strong merchandising and showroom presentation skills Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment Proficient in Microsoft Office and retail sales systems Performance Expectations The Director of Sales will be evaluated on: Sales volume growth Average ticket performance Team productivity and retention Customer satisfaction Merchandising execution Achievement of store KPI goals Overall store profitability and operational performance Work Environment Retail showroom environment Weekends, evenings, and holidays required based on business needs Ability to stand and move throughout the showroom for extended periods Position Objective The Director of Sales is expected to lead the store as a business owner mindset leader — driving sales, developing talent, maintaining operational excellence, and creating an engaging customer experience that supports long-term business growth and brand success.
