Job Description

Job Summary The Area Manager oversees the daily operations, financial performance, and team development across multiple Subway restaurant locations. This role ensures each store consistently meets brand standards, delivers excellent guest service, and operates efficiently and profitably. The Area Manager acts as the direct support to the Owner and the primary leader for Store Managers and staff. 213 E Vistula St Bristol, IN 46507 18423 US-20 Goshen, IN 46528 500 Spring Valley Dr Middlebury, IN 46540 Duties Operational Leadership Oversee daily operations of 3+ Subway locations to ensure consistency, cleanliness, and adherence to all Subway brand standards. Conduct regular store visits and operational audits (food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, staffing, inventory). Ensure compliance with federal/ state labor laws, Subway corporate policies, and local health department regulations. People Management Lead, coach, and mentor Store Managers and shift leads across all locations. Assist with scheduling oversight, labor control strategies, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels. Support hiring, onboarding, and training, including University of Subway modules, food safety certification, and ongoing skill development. Address employee performance concerns, conduct corrective action conversations, and ensure follow-through. Financial Accountability Analyze weekly and monthly sales, labor, food cost, and controllable P&L categories for each location. Identify variances and implement strategies to improve profitability. Ensure accurate inventory counts, waste tracking, and ordering practices to minimize product loss. Monitor cash handling, deposits, and investigate discrepancies. Customer Service & Brand Standard Maintain a high standard of guest experience across all stores. Investigate and resolve customer complaints or operational issues quickly. Lead stores in achieving high mystery shop scores and compliance ratings. Project & Expansion Support Assist the Owner with new store openings, remodels, equipment upgrades, and local marketing efforts. Manage vendor relationships, equipment service calls, and maintenance schedules. Provide input on growth strategies, staffing models, and store performance roadmaps. Communication & Reporting Hold weekly check-ins with Store Managers to review KPIs and action plans. Report performance updates, issues, and needs directly to the Owner. Maintain organized documentation for audits, trainings, safety inspections, and operational updates. Experience Proven management experience with a track record of supervising teams in a fast-paced environment Strong background in strategic planning, business development, and project management Demonstrated ability to manage profit & loss responsibilities effectively Experience in process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams toward achieving organizational goals Prior experience in sales or client relationship management is highly desirable Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and develop actionable insights Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak business periods.
