The Opportunity We are seeking a high-energy, results-driven Director of Sales & Catering to lead the total sales effort for the hotel and drive group, catering, banquet, and event revenue. This is a key executive leadership role for a candidate who knows how to prospect, close, lead, forecast, and build lasting client relationships while working closely with hotel operations to deliver successful programs and events. This role is ideal for a proven full-service hotel sales leader who thrives on winning business, growing market share, developing teams, and producing measurable results. Key Responsibilities Lead the hotel's overall sales and catering strategy to maximize revenue, profitability, and market share Drive group rooms, catering, banquet, and meeting/event revenue across key market segments Solicit new business and strengthen existing client relationships Conduct outside sales calls, client appointments, site tours, networking, and community engagement Oversee the sales and catering process from lead generation through contract completion and event turnover Manage forecasting, pace, production goals, and overall sales activity Identify market trends, competitive opportunities, and revenue growth strategies Partner closely with the General Manager and hotel operations team to ensure strong communication and execution Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable the sales and catering team Maintain brand standards, reporting discipline, and strong commercial leadership Effectively utilize Marriott sales tools, reporting platforms, and brand systems to support account deployment, prospecting, RFP response activity, and sales strategy execution Qualifications Previous hotel sales leadership experience in a full-service hotel environment Strong background in group sales, catering sales, banquets, and meetings/events Proven track record of driving revenue and closing business Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Experience with forecasting, budgeting, pace management, and strategic sales planning Professional presence, urgency, and accountability Marriott brand experience strongly preferred Experience with Marriott sales and business platforms such as CI/TY SFAWeb, MRDW, MarRFP, and MGS is highly preferred Local or regional market knowledge is a plus Typical Schedule This is a full-time executive schedule, generally Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with flexibility based on business demands. The position will regularly require availability for early morning meetings, evening events, client entertainment, site tours, and occasional weekend responsibilities tied to group and banquet activity.
