Job Description
Director of Sales and Marketing 400 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088 From $45,000 a year - Full-time From $45,000 a year - Full-time Oversees all aspects of the hotels sales and marketing efforts. Demonstrated professionalism and possess the ability to speak to customers and employees in a professional manner and shows respect for cultural differences and promotes a harassment free work environment. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondents. Promotes and fosters a high level of guest / customer satisfaction tracks feedback and offers suggestions on ways to improve. Works to maintain positive relations with 3rd party partners and identifies ways to increase booking though those channels. Responds to reviews across all channels. Handles and is responsible for both company and guests confidential information, exercising high level of confidentiality and security. Reviews sales files and client information prior to completing sales calls, identifies opportunities and filters any new / updated information to sales coordinator to update files. Know competition within the market - understands their sales strategies and develops plan around that to shift share to this location. Answers incoming telephone calls to the sales office filters calls to the appropriate department or person. Filters any potential client inquiries creates contracts and bookings. Creates, details and makes any necessary changes to banquet event orders and is responsible for proper distribution of BEOs in the absents of F&B Manager. Attends weekly BEO meetings with F&B team. Reviews nightly reports - identifies opportunities and utilizes to maintain current accounts. Shares feedback regarding guests in house and potential opportunities with other sales managers and GM. Conducts property site tours including banquet space and guestrooms. Conducts required amount of outside qualified sales calls as well as required number of cold calls. Enters group blocks and rooming lists in the hotel property management system, reviews group pickup reports and makes appropriate adjustments to room counts (i.e. unconsumed rooms). Tracks and enters group pickup in the appropriate sales software application. Completes any room night pickup requests from the local chamber of commerce or CVB . Completes and submits commission reports for payment processing. Has direct control of revenue management function within hotel including but not limited to: Identifying sellout hot dates, monitoring competition rates, adjusting rates as necessary to maximize revenues, set/remove appropriate booking restrictions, controls hotel inventory. Sets revenue goal and expectations, along with GM, for sales team and holds them accountable for reaching set goals though follow up. Prepares sales kits for sales team and front desk to provide to potential clients. Creates and maintains monthly sales action plans, annual marketing plan and execution. Participates in the budgeting process for the hotel. Provides sales related training to hotel staff. Prospects for new business utilizing various means and resources. Creates and promoted packages and prepares sale collateral materials including direct mailers. Creates marketing flyers and collateral pieces and creates and distributes e-mail blasts and meeting room surveys. Maintains current business by visiting clients - creates and executes monthly top account deliveries. Advises FOM operations team of any VIP arrivals so they can prepare. Negotiates rates, provides information to operations and sales coordinator for contracting and system input. Attends social networking function and participates in community activities and events. Attends and participates in any sponsored tradeshows or meetings. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness to achieve quality work and applies feedback from others to improve performance. Maintains accurate records. Has working knowledge of hotel property management system and can navigate and effectively complete task within the application. Attends any mandatory management meetings. Identify and resolve issues of any kind in a timely manner and satisfactorily. Is a team player, contributes ideas and fosters team work, takes initiative and asks/offers help when needed and makes sound decisions in the absents of management. Is dependable, follows direction of management and completes assigned duties on time. Keeps work space organized, neat and clean. Able to adapt to change and unexpected events. Utilized effective time management through prioritizing work. Completes the required quantity of work as outlined by management. Will have basic math abilities and basic computer knowledge. All other duties as assigned. Job Requirements High School Diploma; one year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two years of experience in Hospitality Sales and/or Hospitality Management. Must have prior experience with a major franchise brand. Must continuously meet the established minimum weekly sales call goals including inside and outside calls Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Must possess the ability to make decisions and problem solve. Ability to use computers, payment systems etc. Hotel PMS/POS experience preferred
