JOB SUMMARY
LYMEs Director of Business Development is responsible for driving company growth, increasing revenue, and maximizing capture efforts. They will successfully identify new business opportunities, build strategic partnerships, manage key relationships, and align sales teaming partners with long-term strategic objectives. Major Functions/Accountabilities Strategic Growth o Develop and implement strategies for market expansion, setting sales targets, and identifying new markets, contracts, and customer segments. o Create and implement capture plans, win themes, and price-to-win strategies for complex opportunities.
Partnership & Sales Negotiation:
o Negotiate and close deals, partnerships, and agreements to enhance company value. Market Analysis and Customer Development o Research emerging markets, industry trends, and competitor activity to inform product development and marketing strategies. o Develop call plans to gather intelligence, shape requirements, and build relationships with key client decision-makers. o Maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities and report status to leadership.
Leadership:
o Lead cross-functional teams (sales, pricing, proposal) to execute business initiatives and meet company goals. Contract and Opportunity Management o Oversee the full capture lifecycle, conduct readiness reviews (Go/No-Go), and mitigate bid risks. o Create and implement strategies to maximize monetization of new and existing contracts. Analysis and Reporting o Analyze and present progress, key metrics, and strategic recommendations to leadership. Uphold the LYME Standard. Establish strong, professional relationships with customers, prospects, coworkers, and vendors, based on solid rapport and trust. Adhere to Lyme policies, code of ethics and conduct, and standard of doing business. Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional and personal development through: o Active participation in and support of Lymes ongoing development and training efforts o Obtaining appropriate service and/or sales certifications o Remaining current in industry trends through relevant training, trade show attendance, reading of trade journals, etc. Other duties or projects, as assigned by the COO.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field. Proven experience in business development, capture, sales, or program management, preferably within a leadership capacity. Deep understanding of Government contracting, procurement processes, and regulations (e.g., DOD). Superior negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to articulate value to stakeholders. Strong strategic planning abilities, financial acumen, and understanding of market dynamics. Experience leading teams and managing budgets. Proficiency in relevant software and platforms such as: MS Office/Teams/Outlook, and Contraqer/NetSuite (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
