Job Description

Group Sales Manager —
Silverland Inn Location:
Virginia City, NV (remote-friendly; 1-2 days/week on property; candidates within 60 minutes of Virginia City — Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, Truckee) Reports to: General Manager Employment type:
Full-time Property:
silverlandinn.com Pay Range (Year 1 OTE at Quota) : $90,000
  • $120,000 Silverland Inn is a 66-room independent boutique hotel in Virginia City — the only full-service hotel in a National Historic Landmark visitor corridor 25 minutes from downtown Reno.
We're building our corporate and group sales function from the ground up, and we're hiring the person who will own it. This is a hunter role. You will not inherit a pipeline. You will build one — starting with small
  • and mid-sized employers in the Reno-Sparks-Carson City corridor who are looking for a place to hold an offsite that isn't a casino conference center. Why this role is worth a look Reno corporate group leads were up 15% YoY in 2025. Premium Reno wedding venues have moved their minimums to $15K
  • 25K. Tahoe corporate retreat venues now charge $300
  • 500 per attendee per day.
Silverland sits 25 minutes from downtown Reno with the only on-site lodging in the historic corridor, no casino, a 100-mile mountain view, and full F&B under one roof. The product is real, the positioning is distinct, and the structural moat (66 rooms in a 2-million-visitor corridor with zero competing on-site lodging) is durable. The missing piece is a sales engine — that's the seat you'd be filling. What you'd own Build and work a target list of 200+ Reno-area employers (30-500 employees) across tech, logistics, healthcare, government, manufacturing, and professional services Prospect, qualify, propose, contract, and collect deposits — full sales cycle for corporate and group bookings Manage inbound wedding inquiries as a secondary segment using our published three-tier package structure Manage all event pipeline, BEOs, and bookings in Tripleseat (our event CRM); coordinate room blocks in Mews (our PMS); maintain listings on Cvent, HelmsBriscoe, WeddingWire, and The Knot Host site visits and FAM events on the property (paired with the GM) Hand off booked-and-paid events to the GM, who runs property-side execution Weekly pipeline review with ownership What success looks like in your first 90 days By Day 30: 200-company target list built; Cvent and HelmsBriscoe listings live; Tripleseat configured for outbound pipeline tracking; first outbound sequences in market. By Day 60: 50+ qualified conversations with prospect contacts; first 3-5 site visits hosted with the GM; first proposals out the door. By Day 90: $50K+ in signed contracts or active negotiations; first corporate FAM event hosted on property; pipeline visibility into Q4 and Q1. What you'd bring 3-5+ years selling group, meeting, or event business at a hotel, venue, DMC, or convention sales agency. Strong B2B sellers from outside hospitality will be considered if the fundamentals are there. Working knowledge of the Reno-Carson City corporate market — you've actually called HR, executive admin, and Operations contacts at the kinds of companies that hold offsites in northern Nevada, and you know how local meeting planners source. A demonstrable closing record. We are not hiring for activity metrics. We are hiring for closed business. Tripleseat experience preferred. Cvent, HelmsBriscoe, Mews, Delphi, or comparable hotel sales/CRM tooling all useful. Comfort with autonomy and a quota. You can run your own day, build your own week, and manage to a number without a manager standing over your shoulder. Live within 60 minutes of Virginia City. The role is primarily remote — your home, a coffee shop, a customer's office — with 1-2 days a week on property for site visits, FAM events, and team alignment.
Compensation Base:
$55,000
  • 65,000 (depending on experience)
Commission:
8-12% of net new event revenue, paid on collected funds Year 1 OTE at quota: $90,000
  • 120,000 Year 1 quota: $400,000
  • 600,000 in booked event revenue Mileage reimbursement for property days, laptop, and full sales tool stack provided 15 days PTO + standard holidays Employer health insurance contribution The math on this role gets meaningfully better in Year 2 as the pipeline matures.
The earlier you build the book, the more the seat pays. What this role is not A corporate negotiated-rate (business travel) account-management job A wedding coordinator role A "follow the chain playbook" position — there is no playbook yet. You'd be writing it. How to apply Send a resume and a short note (2-3 paragraphs is plenty) covering: What you've sold — in dollars and segments Two Reno-corridor accounts or relationships you'd plan to open in your first 30 days Why Silverland makes sense over your current seat We respond to every qualified application within 5 business days.
Pay:
$90,000.00
  • $120,000.
