Hybrid / Charlotte, North Carolina market Job Description Smith Personnel is seeking an energetic and strategic New Business Development Manager to grow our Charlotte, North Carolina market. This role is focused on developing new client relationships, selling staffing solutions, and expanding our presence with employers across the region. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in staffing sales, recruiting sales, or business development within the staffing industry. This is not a general recruiting role. We are looking for someone who understands how to prospect, qualify opportunities, discuss pay and bill rates, manage a sales pipeline, and close new business. Responsibilities Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, and local market activity. Develop and execute a territory plan to grow Smith Personnel's client base in the Charlotte market. Build relationships with prospective and existing clients by understanding their workforce needs and presenting practical staffing solutions. Conduct sales meetings, discovery conversations, presentations, job order discussions, and proposal reviews. Sell temporary staffing, temp-to-hire, and related workforce solutions to employers with hiring needs. Discuss job requirements, pay rates, bill rates, markups, service expectations, and placement timelines with prospective clients. Negotiate service agreements, pricing, and terms in alignment with company goals and profitability expectations. Partner with recruiting and operations teams to ensure new opportunities are properly qualified, communicated, and supported. Maintain accurate records of sales activity, client communication, pipeline progress, and follow-up tasks within company systems. Represent Smith Personnel professionally in the Charlotte business community. Qualifications Staffing industry sales experience is required. Minimum of 4 years of experience in staffing sales, recruiting sales, business development, or account management within the staffing industry preferred. Proven success selling staffing services, developing new client relationships, growing accounts, and managing a sales pipeline. Strong understanding of temporary staffing, recruiting workflows, job order intake, client expectations, pay rates, bill rates, markups, and workforce challenges. Ability to prospect, build relationships, uncover client needs, present staffing solutions, and close new business. Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and follow-up skills. Comfortable using customer relationship management systems, applicant tracking systems, and other business tools to manage sales activity. Ability to work independently while collaborating with recruiting, operations, and leadership teams. Familiarity with the Charlotte, North Carolina business community is preferred. English required; English and Spanish preferred. Experience Staffing sales / recruiting sales: 4 years preferred Staffing industry business development: 4 years preferred Work Location Hybrid remote in the Charlotte, North Carolina market.
