This leadership opportunity is ideal for an ambitious hospitality professional who thrives in a multi-property environment and has a strong history of improving sales performance, expanding market share, and developing exceptional sales teams. About the Role The Area Director of Sales will oversee portfolio-wide sales initiatives, revenue strategies, and business development efforts for multiple hotel assets.
This position combines:
Sales leadership Revenue strategy execution Market growth initiatives Team mentorship Corporate collaboration The selected candidate will work directly with property leadership teams and executive management to enhance performance while reinforcing Western States Lodging & Management's service-centered culture. Primary Responsibilities Revenue Growth & Market Strategy Design and implement customized sales plans to increase occupancy, average daily rate, and overall profitability Monitor local market conditions, competitor trends, and business opportunities Build annual sales forecasts, budgets, and strategic growth plans Expand revenue opportunities across corporate, group, government, and extended-stay segments Increase regional brand visibility and key account production Leadership & Team Development Guide and support on-site sales managers and property teams Provide performance coaching, sales training, and strategic mentorship Create accountability systems that encourage measurable success Promote a collaborative, goal-oriented sales culture Portfolio Performance Oversight Evaluate lead generation, account production, and booking pace Review portfolio sales metrics and implement improvements where necessary Deliver regular performance updates, forecasting reports, and strategic recommendations Ensure consistent execution of company sales standards Operational Collaboration Partner closely with General Managers to align hotel operations with revenue initiatives Strengthen communication between corporate leadership and property teams Build strong relationships with community organizations, business partners, and major accounts Represent portfolio interests throughout the greater Salt Lake hospitality market
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience) At least 4 years of hotel sales leadership experience Demonstrated success in revenue growth and strategic account management Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and hotel revenue systems Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned Utah market
Preferred Experience:
