POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Associate Director of Sales (ADOS) works closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) to build a clear and credible vision for the hotel sales team. The ADOS maintains a balance of proactive and reactive selling, maintenance and growth of key accounts, and sales team development while utilizing skills as a strategic sales and revenue leader. This role acts as a primary liaison between multiple departments to ensure brand integrity and maximized profitability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Revenue Generation:
Drive group sales revenue across corporate, incentive, and social segments. Use aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling to ensure a high conversion ratio. Actively upsell each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
Proactive Solicitation:
Target group accounts and segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation. Achieve weekly prospecting goals and "knock on doors" to uncover new customers and target markets.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Supervise, train, and motivate multiple levels of managers and coordinators. Evaluate team performance fairly and in a solution-oriented fashion. Lead weekly group lead reviews and daily business review meetings.
Strategic Analysis:
Regular analysis of industry reports (STR) and booking pace. Prepare and compile data for the strategic sales plan, competitive set analysis, and monthly forecasting.
Financial Management:
Assist with monthly P&L management, invoice documentation, and operating budget oversight. Accurately forecast group sleeping rooms and event revenue (catering/audio-visual).
Account Management:
Own and grow a portfolio of high-value accounts, including one of the top three major group markets for the hotel. Manage customer budgets effectively to meet needs while maximizing resort profit.
Service Delivery:
Ensure business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion to operations. Attend daily stand-ups and weekly revenue/marketing meetings to ensure seamless execution of group experiences.
Guest Satisfaction:
Display leadership in guest hospitality to ensure products and services meet or exceed expectations. Interact with guests for feedback and handle complaints with corrective action plans.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Marketing, or Hotel & Restaurant Management. 5-7 years of sales leadership in a similar-sized operation at an upscale luxury hotel or resort. Past leadership experience as a Manager is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
System Expertise:
Proficiency in Delphi, Social Tables, SMS, Microsoft Office, Opera, etc.
Closing Skills:
Strong persuasion and "closing" abilities with a results-driven mindset.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal, listening, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Legal/Contractual:
Advanced knowledge and understanding of contract management and legalities.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and evaluate visual data (graphs/reports). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work effectively in a stressful, fast-paced environment and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to change activity frequently, cope with constant interruptions, and maintain a professional "Forbes Five-Star" attitude. Requires travel to industry events and property tours.
