About the Director of Business Development The Director of Business Development is responsible for providing leadership and support for Door County businesses and entrepreneurs through business retention and expansion efforts, DCEDC programming, entrepreneurial and business assistance, and workforce development programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Supports existing Door County businesses of all sizes and sectors through direct business engagement, research and collaboration with employers Designs, implements and sustains consistent BRE program to understand business needs and develop and implement programs to address needs and support business growth Builds strong relationships with businesses to identify opportunities and address challenges Connects existing businesses to local, regional, state and national resources to meet needs and support growth Talent Attraction, Retention and Development (Workforce Development) Implements talent attraction, retention and development programs to ensure a vibrant workforce for Door County Leads Door County student engagement activities toward promoting current employment and future careers in Door County Promotes business and partner engagement in workforce development initiatives by leading DCEDC's Workforce Development Committee and Business and Education Partnership Committee efforts Coordinates with local, regional and statewide partners regarding workforce development Entrepreneurial / Small Business Growth Services Implements and sustains DCEDC's entrepreneurial and small business assistance programs and services Develops and maintains calendar of classes and activities for entrepreneurs and small businesses Provides individualized support and assistance to entrepreneurs on items including: Business plan development Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) applications Site-selection Connection to local, state and federal resources Works with partner organizations for entrepreneurial programming and development opportunities Leads and coordinates approval committees for RLF programs Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree and / or equivalent experience in economic development, business development, customer engagement or similar role Demonstrated understanding of economic development Ability to quickly learn Door County's diverse economy Exceptional written and verbal skills Excellent organizational, prioritization and project management skills Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities and adapt within a collaborative small-team environment Ability to take input from multiple constituencies and achieve acceptable outcomes Salary and Benefits Salary commensurate with experience
