Job Description
Position Summary:
The cashier will report to the Food Service Manager (and/or his/her designee). The cashier will welcome customers, answer questions, help locate items, provide advice or recommendations. The cashier will also operate scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics; and will accept payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate and provide a receipt to every customer. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform basis math functions to collect payments and make changes. Operate registers, scanners, scales and credit card/debit card terminals. Handle exchanges and refunds in a quick, efficient manner. Maintain accurate cash drawers. Take a tally of the funds in the cash register when required during a shift, at shift change and produce transaction reports. Keep the checkout area clean and orderly. Greet the costumer entering into the organization. Handle all cash transactions of the employee kitchen. Receive payment by cash and payment transactions to the supervisor. Check daily cash accounts; deposit cash to the Finance Department. Guide and solve queries of customer. Report daily cash and payment transactions to the supervisor. Maintain monthly, weekly, and daily report of transaction. Wash dishes to help dish washer and when dish washer is not on schedule. Sanitize counters and change out Sanitizer buckets every 2 hours. Make the dining area presentable and stocked. Sweep, mop dining area where tables are displayed, including service area Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to reach and grasp objects; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment :
Work is generally performed in an office with moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma Six (6) months experience in a food industry performing duties as a cashier Must possess a valid Navajo Nation Food Handlers Permit Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen. Ability to present a positive, helpful attitude toward customers, including the ability to speak clearly and convey information accurately. Ability to process cash payments, credit/debit card payment and effectively process refunds as necessary. Knowledge of register operation, including cash, credit cards and register receipts. Strong knowledge of mathematics. Ability to deposit cash payments daily. Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or a familiarity with the Navajo Way. Ability to communicate effectively, honesty, sincerity.
