Job Summary:
Responsible for basic accounting functions as assigned. Responsible for collating monthly accounting reports and filing and maintenance of all accounting records.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Receipting of cash and checks received from all sources. 2. Balancing of daily receipts to accounting system records. 3. Initial preparation of daily deposit documents/packets. 4. Preparation of summary and detail reports related to the cashiering function. 5. Handling and distribution of payroll checks/records for all tribal departments. 6. Handling and distribution of accounts payable checks. 7. Primary responsibility for customer service to individuals making payments or otherwise contacting the accounting department. 8. Greeting individuals arriving at the accounting department and routing to appropriate staff member, as required. 9. Deal with any task directed by Supervisor. 10. Occasional overnight travel and training may be required. 11. Provide management with information as requested. 12. Performs other duties as assigned that can be reasonably expected to promote the operation and efficiency of the Accounting Department.
KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required :
High school diploma or GED required 2 years' experience performing cashier, teller or similar tasks Valid driver's license throughout employment as needed
Preferred:
5 years' experience in cashier, teller or similar tasks with filing and data entry responsibilities Associate's degree in accounting, or related field
Skills Required:
Basic computer skills with experience in word processing and spreadsheets Good organizational skills Good written and verbal communication skills Good interpersonal _and teamwork skills Accurate and detail-oriented Good problem-solving skills Abilities •
Required:
Ability to maintain high confidentiality Ability to independently manage multiple tasks in professional manner Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Ability to work cooperatively with all departments Ability to manage extensive amounts of paperwork Ability to operate most office equipment (computer, fax, copier, etc.) Ability to learn and recognize the importance of accuracy Ability to use appropriate communication skills for the situation, follow directions, be consistently punctual, work well with co-workers and the public and present themselves in an appropriate manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to communicate using written, oral and computer methods. May be required able to operate computer equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Office and/or outdoor environment. Must be flexible with work schedule. Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals. Occasional overtime required.

The Colorado River Indian Tribes has implemented a Tribal/ CRIT Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position, and who are enrolled members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position. Tribal preference is integrated into the interview and scoring process for candidates for job positions
