Full Job Description Title:
Farmers Market Cashier Reports to:
Chef/Partner, General Manager/Restaurant Manager Job Purpose:
This role involves setting up and breaking down the market booth, managing sales transactions, maintaining inventory accuracy, replenishing products throughout the shift, and providing exceptional customer service. This role is a part-time position for Wednesdays and Sundays only.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Set up the farmers market booth, including canopies, tables, signs, and displays. Confirm the pack list matches the actual on-hand inventory. Sort and organize products for easy access during sales. Set up product displays with clear labels for each item. Prepare the POS system (Toast) and count the cash bank before opening. Greet customers warmly and maintain enthusiasm when selling products. Provide product recommendations and answer customer inquiries. Bag purchased items efficiently while ensuring accuracy. Process transactions using the POS system (Toast) and handle cash responsibly. Monitor inventory throughout the shift and replenish products on display as needed. Remove sold-out items from the display promptly to avoid confusion. Track leftover products and fill out waste/donation sheets at the end of the shift. Complete a daily report detailing sales, most popular items, customer feedback, and any relevant notes from the market day. Send all reports to the Chef/Partner or General Manager at the end of each shift. Break down all equipment, including canopies, tables, signs, and displays. Reconcile cash and close out the Toast POS system. Coordinate with drivers for unloading and picking up equipment/products.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Possess excellent basic math and computer skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Customer satisfaction-oriented and sales skills
Working Conditions and Expectations :
Be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time. Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop. Work schedule will may vary between early mornings, weekends and holidays Shifts will range from 6 - 8 hours and you may at times be asked to work overtime Always act in a professional manner that represents the restaurant, owners, partners and staff. Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations Follow safety and sanitation rules and laws at all times Attends all scheduled employee meetings. Always act in the best interest of the restaurant, fellow employees and guests. Welcome and accept feedback and coaching from the management team in order to maintain and grow as an employee Must have Food Handlers permit on file
Physical Requirements:
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Repetitive tasks with few breaks Be able to work in a standing position for up to 10 hours.
