Cashier for small family business

About us Black Forest Pastry Shop is a small business in Greenwich, CT. We have been in business since 1982. Our goal is to provide the best pastries and sweets to the greater Greenwich area while providing world class customer service. Our customers are our business and we are happy to provide them with only the best.

Our work environment includes:

We are looking for friendly folks who can start work at 7AM and work up to 20 hours a week in a flexible, fast paced retail environment. Must have weekend availability. This is NOT a summer-only position, we are looking for staff that can continue to work in the busier Fall and Winter months.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with merchandising and maintaining store displays
• Reliable transportation to work in a timely manner
• Clean and stock trays to ensure danish/cookies are organized and easily accessible
• Use the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions
• Master the products we serve to be able to answer customer questions
• Assist customers in the cake ordering process
• Handle cash transactions accurately and securely
• Manage inventory control by monitoring product levels
• Operate a cash register and handle retail math calculations

Qualifications:

• Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate product placement and organization
• Basic design experience to know what looks good and what does not
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
• Must Have Experience cash handling and operating a cash register
• Proficiency in retail math calculations for accurate pricing and discounts
• High school degree Ideal candidate will have:
• Merchandising experience, particularly in a retail setting
• Positive attitude
• Leadership experience The holidays are our busiest time of the year and you will be required to work the following days:
• The day before Easter
• The day before Mother's Day
• The day before Halloween and Halloween
• The day before and after Thanksgiving (closed on Thanksgiving)
• The day before Christmas (closed on Christmas)
• New Years Eve (closed on New Years Day)
