The Head Cashier is responsible for managing the checkout experience, supporting cashiers, maintaining accurate cash handling procedures, and assisting with daily store operations. This role serves as a leader at the front of the store and works closely with the management team to keep operations running smoothly. Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service Greet every customer in a friendly and professional manner. Ensure fast, accurate, and efficient checkout service. Answer customer questions and provide basic product recommendations. Resolve customer concerns or refer them to management when necessary. Promote a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat business. Front-End Operations Oversee daily front-end operations and support cashiers throughout each shift. Ensure registers are staffed and operating efficiently. Assist with opening and closing register procedures. Monitor checkout lines and adjust coverage as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout area. Cash Handling Process cash, credit card, gift card, and other payment transactions accurately. Balance cash drawers and prepare daily register reports. Perform register counts and assist with cash deposits. Investigate and report register discrepancies. Follow all company cash handling and loss prevention procedures. Team Leadership Assist with training new cashiers on company policies, POS systems, and customer service standards. Provide coaching and support to front-end staff. Help ensure employees follow company procedures and maintain professionalism. Communicate customer concerns and operational issues to management. Lead by example through strong work ethic and excellent customer service. Store Operations Assist with stocking merchandise near the front of the store. Keep shelves, displays, and impulse items organized and fully stocked. Assist with inventory counts as needed. Answer phones and direct calls appropriately. Help fulfill online or phone orders when necessary. Maintain cleanliness throughout the front-end and surrounding sales floor. Safety & Loss Prevention Follow company security and cash handling policies. Monitor for suspicious activity and report concerns to management. Help reduce inventory shrink through attention to detail and accountability. Maintain a safe and clean work environment for customers and employees. Qualifications Previous retail cashier experience required. Previous supervisory or lead cashier experience preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills. Excellent cash handling and basic math skills. Experience using a point-of-sale (POS) system. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, trustworthy, and professional. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to work in a busy retail environment. Schedule Full-time or part-time opportunities available. Weekend availability is required. Some holidays are required. Flexible scheduling based on business needs. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of fishing equipment and outdoor products is a plus. Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour Application Question(s): Please describe your fishing experience and knowledge.
