Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a proactive team player with a positive demeanor, dedicated to mutual success and maintaining high morale within our workplace. This role is ideal for individuals who are customer oriented and enjoy working with the public. The Museum Associate plays a vital role in supporting admission sales, retail sales and related customer facing duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organizational abilities and a commitment to excellence in service. A background in hospitality is preferred Duties Greet visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and information about exhibits and programs Accurately charges retail transactions utilizing Square POS software Instructs visitors on gallery policies for the safety and security of guests, staff and the museum collection Follows processes for opening and closing procedures for the front desk and gift shop Maintains par levels for inventory control and management and restocks as necessary throughout the day Boosts gift shop revenue and performance indicators and supports fundraising efforts by using suggestive selling techniques including recommending complementary items and highlighting new arrivals Answers the phone and transfers calls as appropriate Conducts light cleaning to maintain a neat appearance in the lobby, public spaces and gift shop Takes direction and assignments to support other museum initiatives as needed Utilizes resources to support a positive customer experience and respond to customer needs Skills Can balance a cash register and follow cash handling policies. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively during busy times in the museum. Comfortable working with technology to manage retail transactions. Demonstrates a flexible mindset and the ability to pivot effectively within an evolving museum environment. Physical Requirements Can lift up to 25 pounds Tolerate standing 70% of the shift Able to stoop, bend, twist, and hold arms above the head for stocking merchandise This role offers an exciting chance to grow your career in the cultural sector while actively engaging our community.
