Covers Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (approx. 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Job Overview We are seeking a professional and reliable Food Service Cafe Cashier to join our team at the Boston Police Department Headquarters. This role is central to our mission of providing high-quality, nutritious, and reasonably priced food to approximately 650 BPD employees and visitors. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing transactions via a POS system, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment in our 4,500+ sq. ft. facility. Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service:
Greet guests warmly and provide detailed information on daily specials, healthy menu options, and portion sizes.Transaction Management:
Accurately record all transactions through the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and handle cash and digital payments responsibly.Beverage & Food Service:
Prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages (coffee, tea, juices) and assist in serving pre-planned, nutritionally balanced meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.Sanitation & Safety:
Adhere to strict sanitation standards; wear a clean, company-identified uniform, hair restraints, and plastic gloves at all times in prep areas.Operations:
Assist with setting up/closing the cafe, restocking inventory, and ensuring the dining area (116 indoor seats) remains clean and organized. Mandatory BPD RequirementsBackground Check:
All candidates must undergo and successfully clear a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Boston Police Department prior to being hired.Sanitation Training:
You must be willing to participate in regular sanitation training and comply with on-site sanitation lead instructions during all business hours.Professional Conduct:
Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude suitable for a high-security law enforcement environment. QualificationsExperience:
Previous experience in a fast-paced food service, barista, or retail cashier role is preferred.Skills:
Strong basic math skills for cash handling and excellent communication skills for team collaboration.Physical:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift at least 30 lbs.Quality Focused:
