Job Description

The Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association (MVCMA) is seeking friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented individuals to serve as Museum Gift Shop Attendants during the summer season. As a National Historic Landmark and faith-based community, MVCMA is dedicated to perpetuating our religious and historical heritage while engaging all in education and spiritual growth within a welcoming environment. The Gift Shop plays an important role in supporting the mission of MVCMA while enhancing the visitor experience for residents, Islanders, and guests. What You'll Do Report to the General Manager while overseeing daily Gift Shop operations during assigned shifts. Welcome and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner, providing information about merchandise and the Cottage Museum. Open and close the Gift Shop in accordance with established procedures. Accurately process sales transactions, including cash and credit payments, following established financial protocols. Maintain inventory, restock merchandise, and create appealing product displays. Complete end-of-day reconciliation and financial reporting. Help ensure the shop remains organized, clean, and inviting for visitors. This role calls for attentiveness, integrity in financial handling, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a busy seasonal environment. Schedule This is a seasonal, hourly summer position. Hours are variable and may include weekends, evenings, and holidays based on visitor demand and shop operations. What We're Looking For Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions. Diplomacy and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and members of the public. Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently. Comfort with basic retail systems and point-of-sale processes. Successful completion of a CORI background check is required. Work Environment This position is based in the Museum Gift Shop and involves standing for extended periods, handling merchandise, and interacting with visitors throughout the day during the busy summer season.
