Winery Tasting Room Associate

Domaine Berrien Cellars, a premier Vineyard in Southwest Michigan, has been growing exceptional grapes and producing award-winning wines in Berrien Springs, MI since 2001. Our Tasting Room business is very weekend focused, so availability on Saturdays and Sundays is a must. Our Tasting Associates are outgoing, energetic team players with a natural flair for starting conversations, and who have a lot of fun while delivering exceptional customer service. You do not need to have extensive wine knowledge when you start - we'll teach you all that. What is important is that you love talking to people and drinking wine! Job Responsibilities Pro-actively engage with guests and create memorable experiences for them at the winery Describe, recommend and pour wines tailored to each guest's preferences Share the Domaine Berrien Cellars story Encourage the purchase of our wines and participation in our clubs, events, and social media community Accurately process transactions via our POS System Execute opening & closing of our Tasting Room including restocking, cleaning, and cash drawer balancing Enforce company policies related to customer and employee safety Candidate Requirements A love of wine and people! Proven customer service skills Exceptional interpersonal skills Be reliable, dependable, and punctual Ability to learn, retain and synthesize large amounts of information Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations Available to work most Saturdays and Sundays Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, environment Ability to repeatedly lift and carry 40 lb. cases of wine Ability to work 6-7 hour shifts while standing Must be at least 21 years of age Valid Driver's License and have reliable transportation Associates are paid $13.50/hour during training. After the successful completion of training, associates receive an increase in their hourly rate, earn tips (avg $12/hour in tips), receive a great discount on wine, and receive logo apparel.
