Job Description

A cafe cashier is responsible for processing customer payments, providing excellent service, and supporting smooth cafe operations. Key Responsibilities As a cafe cashier you will handle order and financial transactions and ensures a positive customer experience.
Core duties include:
Processing Payments:
Accepting cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments accurately using a point-of-sale (POS) system
Customer Interaction:
Greeting customers warmly, answering questions about menu items, and assisting with special requests or dietary needs
Order Management:
Recording orders, issuing receipts, and coordinating with kitchen staff to ensure timely service
Cash Handling:
Balancing cash drawers, managing change, and maintaining accurate transaction records
Upselling and Suggestive Selling:
Promoting menu items or specials to enhance sales and customer satisfaction
Support Tasks:
Assisting with restocking, cleaning, clearing trash, and helping close the cafe at the end of shifts The Cafe is located on campus inside of Edgecombe Community College. There are openings on both the Tarboro & Rocky Mount Campuses. Hours and shifts will typically range between 7am-4pm
