Stocker / Cashier

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cashier/Stocker to join our team in a fast-paced grocery store environment. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service while efficiently managing transactions and maintaining product availability on the sales floor. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a knack for retail sales, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Duties Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently. Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with inquiries, product selections, and resolving any issues that may arise. Handle cash transactions responsibly, ensuring accurate cash handling practices are followed. Stock shelves and maintain merchandise displays to ensure products are readily available for customers. Conduct product demonstrations to promote new items and enhance customer engagement. Assist in merchandising efforts to create appealing product displays that drive sales. Utilize basic math skills to manage transactions and provide change accurately. Engage in upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining a positive shopping experience. Supervise junior staff as needed, providing guidance and support in daily operations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and stockroom. Qualifications Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred, particularly within a grocery store setting. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members. Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse customers. Familiarity with retail math concepts to assist in inventory management and sales tracking. Experience in stocking, merchandising, and conducting product demos is advantageous. Basic phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone when necessary. A proactive attitude towards upselling products and enhancing the overall shopping experience for customers.
