Job Description

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the Cashier is responsible for the accurate collection of cash/checks/credit card payments, processing of tax payments and maintaining an accurate and balanced window. In consideration of the continuous contact with the General Public, this position must maintain a professional demeanor at all times and in all situations. This is a temporary position through August, 20-30 hours a week. Providing customer service to walk in customers - collecting tax payments, processing vendor's and cigarette licenses and county pay-ins. Answers questions regarding applicable tax and explains available programs including, but not limited to, escrow and delinquent payment plans, remission of penalty forms when applicable and homestead options. Providing customer service to call in customers - answering phones and providing accurate information. Researching issues and responding to customer inquiries and providing the same program options as mentioned above. Process mail; process address changes; process returned mail. Other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor and/or other Chief Deputy Treasurers. Create penalty letters for delinquent account, assist with special projects, assist delinquency department. High School Diploma or GED 1-2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Above average mathematical, financial, and accounting skills; Ability to use an adding machine and reconcile cash drawer; Proficient in word processing and accounting programs; Effective oral and written communication skills; Ability to organize and work under a time limit; Knowledge of IAS World system for real estate billing and collection processes•
