We are looking for someone who enjoys working with the public, can provide excellent customer service, and is comfortable working in a busy, high-energy thrift store environment. This position is primarily focused on cashiering, assisting customers, maintaining the sales floor, and supporting daily retail operations. The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work well with customers, donors, volunteers, and staff. Apply Please submit a resume through Indeed. Position Details As a representative of Philly AIDS Thrift, the employee must always greet and assist customers, donors, volunteers, and staff in a courteous and professional manner. The Cashier / Retail Assistant will help create a welcoming shopping experience while supporting the general needs of the store. This includes operating the register, answering customer questions, maintaining the sales floor, assisting with merchandise, and helping with donations and other store tasks as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Provide outstanding customer service Greet and assist customers, donors, volunteers, and staff in a friendly and professional manner Operate the POS system and handle customer transactions accurately Assist customers by answering questions and helping locate merchandise Maintain the sales floor to create an organized, welcoming, and easy-to-shop customer experience Restock, straighten, and organize merchandise throughout the store Help keep merchandise, shelves, racks, and display areas neat, organized, and easy for customers to shop Help keep the store clean, organized, and well-stocked Support staff and volunteers with general retail tasks Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Prior experience in sales, customer service, cashiering, or another public-facing role preferred Previous experience operating a POS system and handling customer transactions helpful Strong verbal communication skills Basic math and reading skills Attention to detail Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others Friendly, reliable, and professional Comfortable working with a diverse community of customers, donors, volunteers, and staff Interest in Philly AIDS Thrift's mission and community work High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred Physical Requirements Ability to spend most of the shift standing, walking, or moving between departments Ability to bend, stoop, lift, climb, carry, walk, and reach on a frequent basis Ability to move and/or lift up to 30 lbs independently Heavier merchandise should be handled with team assistance This Role Is Best Suited For Someone Who Enjoys working with people Is friendly, patient, and professional Likes staying active and busy throughout the shift Can handle a fast-paced retail environment Is comfortable asking questions and communicating with managers Cares about creating a welcoming experience for customers and donors Is excited to support the mission of Philly AIDS Thrift This Role May Be Challenging For Someone Who Prefers a quiet or slow-paced work environment Is uncomfortable with frequent customer interaction Has difficulty standing for extended periods of time Does not enjoy multitasking Is uncomfortable working around secondhand or donated goods About Philly AIDS Thrift Since 2005, Philly AIDS Thrift's mission has been to support local communities affected by
