Corner Pantry in Sioux Falls, SD is hiring cashiers. Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Cashier at our bustling convenience store, where your energy and enthusiasm will create a welcoming environment for every customer. In this role, you'll be the friendly face that ensures smooth transactions, provides exceptional customer service, and maintains the store's organized and inviting atmosphere. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help drive sales, promote products, and foster positive shopping experiences for all visitors. Responsibilities Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and swiftly. Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and assist with product inquiries to enhance their shopping experience. Handle cash, credit, and mobile payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing registers at shift end. Upsell products and suggest add-ons through engaging product demos and friendly communication to increase sales. Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, stock shelves, and ensure merchandise is well-presented through effective merchandising and stocking techniques. Provide excellent phone etiquette when taking orders or answering inquiries from customers or vendors. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, conducting product demos when appropriate, and supporting restocking efforts. Experience Previous retail sales or cashiering experience preferred, especially within grocery stores or convenience retail environments. Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for accurate cash handling and transaction processing. Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in managing team tasks or training new staff. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases. Knowledge of grocery store operations including merchandising, stocking, and product placement strategies. Excellent phone etiquette skills combined with a friendly demeanor to foster positive customer interactions. Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately while maintaining high levels of customer service excellence.
