As a Field Representative, you will be instrumental in ensuring comprehensive data collection through door-to-door visits and community interactions, all while gaining meaningful experience in public service and outreach initiatives. Duties Conduct door-to-door visits to households and businesses to collect census data accurately and efficiently. Promote awareness of the census's importance within local communities to encourage participation. Assist with scheduling appointments and follow-up visits to ensure complete coverage of assigned areas. Engage with community members using excellent communication skills, explaining the purpose of the census and addressing questions or concerns. Maintain detailed records of interactions, visits, and data collection activities to ensure data integrity. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet outreach goals and improve field operations. Represent the Census Bureau professionally at all times, demonstrating integrity, respect, and cultural sensitivity. Skills Proven supervising experience or leadership skills to coordinate team efforts effectively. Strong marketing and customer service skills to engage diverse populations positively. Experience in door-to-door canvassing, sales, telemarketing or fundraising is highly desirable. Bilingual abilities are a plus for communicating with non-English speaking community members. Excellent communication skills for explaining complex information clearly and persuasively. Negotiation skills to handle questions or objections tactfully while maintaining professionalism. Ability to work independently in outdoor environments, walking long distances and navigating various neighborhoods.
