They also keep our water clean, filtering out pollutants before they reach drinking water sources like Lake Michigan. Unfortunately only 10% of our wetlands remain, and those wetlands don't have enough protection. Environment Illinois is calling for comprehensive protections of all our wetlands. We're hiring canvassers and field managers in our Chicago office to educate the public about this issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence local decision-makers. As a canvasser this summer you will: Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work We are looking for: We are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change. Pay:

Canvassing staff earn a base pay of $17.50 per hour, plus can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum fundraising standard, giving staff the opportunity to earn more than $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. Depending on performance and location, canvassers earn an average of between $17.50 to $22 per hour.
