  • Full-time Work to Protect the Boundary Waters in Our Canvassing and Field Manager Positions The Boundary Waters is our state's most special wilderness; it's home to moose, beavers, and lynxes and its 1,100 lakes help make it the most visited wilderness area in the country.
But, a mining company is pushing to build a copper mine just south of the wilderness area. Toxic pollution from this mine could directly contaminate the water that runs into the Boundary Waters. Environment Minnesota is urging our leaders to permanently protect the entire watershed from mining. We're hiring canvassers and field managers in our Minneapolis office to educate the public about this issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence local decision-makers. As a canvasser this summer you will: Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work We are looking for: We are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change.   • Eligibility for benefits depends on your position, location, duration of employment, and other factors.
Pay:
Staff earn a base pay of $17, plus staff can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum standard, which means staff have the opportunity to earn over $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. So, depending on performance and location, you could earn an average of between $17 to $22 per hour.
