$18.00 Reports to: Civic Engagement Organizer Summary LUPE Votes uses electoral and political organizing to win justice for working families in the Rio Grande Valley. LUPE Votes is a 501(c)4 partisan organization. LUPE Votes is seeking a highly motivated, driven individual to assist as a paid canvasser in South Texas. Lead Canvassers will be supervised by the Civic Engagement Organizer working to execute and meet the benchmarks set by the overall voter contact program. Lead Canvassers will be responsible for the management of canvassers who will be contacting thousands of voters through safe door-to-door door canvassing and phone banking. The Lead Canvasser will model and guide effective organizing practices, cut turf, track and monitor canvassing shifts, and ensure all canvassers are adhering to expectations. This position is a contract, part-time position from August 17, 2026 until November 4, 2026. This position will pay $18/hr and will require nontraditional hours under the immediate supervision of the Civic Engagement Organizer . Candidates must be sufficiently mobile to canvass in these neighborhoods.

RGV ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Champion an electoral campaign for which an expert's level of knowledge is needed in order to see it through from early stages of development to the enactment of consequential action and/or policy; Plan and host activities that elevate the message of an electoral campaign and recruit more support and buy-in from those oppressed by the system in question and from allies; Plan and train community members to use civic participation and action to improve their lives; Manage a group of canvassers for LUPE's Get-Out-The-Vote field program; Plan and implement voter registration and voter education campaigns; Coordinate volunteers and hourly staff for Voter Registration site campaign; Build & maintain a community-based voter participation operation; Develop and implement voter registration efforts in Hidalgo County or other areas as assigned; Manage field/voter data from the VAN; Build field targets; Generate data reports; Set up VAN integration with our Peer-to Peer-texting and Dialer program;
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understanding of issues facing low-income and marginalized communities in South Texas. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and desire for social change. Must be able to work in a team environment, have proven leadership capability, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Possess qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for LUPE Votes mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with VAN to manage field/voter data (Required) Ability to motivate a small team to achieve campaign goals (Required) Experience with peer-to-peer text and phone banking (Required) Valid Driver's License (Required)

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The lead canvasser will interact most frequently with the Civic Engagement Organizer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Lead canvassers are regularly required to sit, stand, walk and canvass to organize in a specified community for up to 30 hours per week. Manual Dexterity sufficient to operate a mobile device and computer. Ability to travel locally. This person will be required to use their personal vehicle for business, must carry auto insurance and have a current valid driver's license.
