Job Description

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking a first- or second-year transactional associate (Class of 2024 or 2025) to support the Energy and Infrastructure industry team in the firm's Houston office. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is a global Am Law 50 full-service law firm with over 1,200 attorneys across 16 offices worldwide, advising clients on high-stakes litigation, complex transactions, and cutting-edge regulatory matters across key industries—including energy, real estate and development, financial services, healthcare, and technology. Our teams are known for delivering practical, business-oriented counsel and for collaborating seamlessly across offices to support clients locally, nationally, and internationally. The team seeks candidates who have experience (or demonstrated interest) supporting a broad range of matters, including: Structured energy transactions and related diligence and execution support Complex energy finance and commodities trading matters Power purchase agreements and other commercial arrangements Transactions spanning the power, renewables and alternative energy, natural gas, and upstream oil and gas sectors Preparing and managing ancillary closing deliverables and coordinating across internal and external teams This position offers meaningful responsibility, direct partner interaction, and the opportunity to develop sophisticated transactional skills in a collaborative environment. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Class of 2024 or 2025 (1st-2nd year) with relevant transactional experience and/or strong interest in energy and infrastructure matters Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent matters Team-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn directly from leading practitioners Resume, cover letter, and law school transcript are required to apply.
