Lead Front Desk Representative Description:
Overview The Front Desk Lead role is a leadership position within the front desk team. Deskie Leads work closely with the Member Services Manager and Executive Director to keep front desk operationsanized, supported, and running smoothly. The Front Desk Lead will coordinate scheduling, assign volunteers to tasks, ensure coverage at both the main and satellite desks, and act as a first point of support for both Paid Deskies and Deskie Volunteers during their shifts. Core Responsibilities Leadership & Coordination Assign and direct Deskie Staff & Volunteers during each shift (door coverage, phone answering, cleaning tasks, etc.) Ensure the satellite desk is covered during class times or peak visitor hours Act as the shift point-of-contact for Deskies and Volunteers with operational questions Step in to assist with challenging member or visitor interactions when needed Scheduling & Staffing Collaborate with the other Deskie Leads (if applicable) to create and maintain the Paid Deskie and Volunteer schedules Track coverage gaps and arrange shift coverage when necessary Ensure new Deskies and Volunteers are integrated into the schedule after training Training & Support Support onboarding for new Paid Deskies and Volunteers Provide guidance and mentorship to team members during shifts Communicate updates, changes, and needs to the front desk team Operations & Oversight Monitor front desk procedures to ensure consistency across shifts Ensure cleanliness andanization of the lobby, kitchen, and desk areas during shifts Track and escalate any recurring operational or staffing issues to the Member Services Manager Working with Volunteers You'll often work alongside Deskie Volunteers who are t to lend a hand. You're expected to: Wee them warmly Assign them appropriate tasks (e.g., door coverage, tidying, answering phones) Provide gentle guidance and appreciation Expectations Model professional, weing, and solution-focused behavior at all times Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and leadership duties Maintain clearmunication with the other Deskie Leads and Paid Deskies Keep accurate records of shift coverage, assignments, and volunteer participation Support enforcement of policies, including privacy and information handling Schedule & Compensation Hourly rate:$20/hr
Hours:
Regular front desk shifts + additional leadership/scheduling duties (25 - 35 average total hours)
Qualifications:
Strongmunication and interpersonal skills Friendly, weing, andmunity-oriented attitude Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Prior front desk, customer service, hospitality, ormunity management experience preferred Comfortable handling difficult situations calmly and professionally Ability to learn and enforceanizational policies and procedures Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through Comfortable using basic digital tools (email, Slack, Google Workspace, CRM systems, scheduling software, etc.) Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or team coordination experience preferred Familiarity with theanization and its culturemunity is a plus Ability to escalate issues appropriately andmunicate effectively with staff leadership Capable of training and supporting other desk staff or volunteers Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling member/customer information s maintain consistency between shifts Assists with onboarding/training new deskies Identifies operational issues before they be larger problems
