Role:
A Service Associate III assists in a variety of member service functions including servicing more complex member transactions, opening accounts, account maintenance, and basic loan functions while ensuring members are promptly and professionally served with follow-up on member and potential members' inquiries. The Service Associate III will establish new deposit/account relationships, actively cross selling credit union products and services by determining member needs and perform a variety of account maintenance duties. The Service Associate III will work with other staff and departments and will seek opportunities to increase member and credit union profitability.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Assists members with opening and closing accounts, answering questions about products and services. Identifies opportunities to cross sell services to members and refers members to applicable people or departments. Provide friendly, accurate and professional service by answering member phone calls and assisting members in-person to answer loan or account inquiries, provide notary services, lien releases and other miscellaneous requests. Process skip pays, loan reversals, makes delinquency calls. Routinely handle more complex transactions supporting employees and member requests including processing a variety of account related transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; wire transfers; sells money orders, travel & gift cards; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed as well as assist members with card transactions to include card issuance and transaction review. Research more complex member issues to provide optimum member solution. May assist existing members with various account services and transactions by setting up Certificates of Deposit, converting accounts to Kasasa, adding existing accounts. Offers and approves overdraft protection lines of credit on qualified accounts. May be assigned vault responsibilities such as managing & ordering cash requirement for the branch as well as order, receive, and dispense cash to service ATMs across the organization where applicable. May be assigned internal audit functions for transactions within the service associate, new accounts, and vault transactions. Back up Service Associate II duties as needed. May be assigned SME training duties. Maintains member account records and documentation. Prepare reports as required. Maintains member confidence by responding to inquiries and keeping all member information confidential. Works with other departments on a continuous basis to effectively promote credit union services and products and provide optimum solutions and opportunities for members. Participates in available educational opportunities to improve job knowledge. Embodies the Park Side Pillars of Pride, Purpose, Professionalism and Passion. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
Provide informed, prompt, accurate service and support to all members and associates. Open all memberships or accounts, and other credit union products or services accurately, ensuring all related forms and documents are completed and imaged in a timely manner. Cross sell products to meet member needs. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures. Possess working knowledge of credit union structure, mission statement, core values, sales and service standards, and available products and services. Maintain knowledge of loan products and rates, along with compliance with Park Side policies, processes, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Proactively seek opportunities to identify appropriate products and services for the betterment of the members. If assigned vault responsibilities, ensure the branch cash levels are maintained in accordance with guidelines and any discrepancies promptly reported to management. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance. Maintains good working relationship with other departments and resources to ensure member needs are met and the credit union goals and strategies are achieved. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to typical office conditions. Occasionally the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Travel may be required. Physical Demands While performing the responsibilities of the Service Associate III, the employee is required to talk and hear, conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately and efficiently. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment under 30 lbs. Requirements A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for the purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Maintains confidentiality regarding credit union and member activities. Must have a basic knowledge of all credit union products & services. Work involves the ability to motivate and influence others. Fostering sound relationships with others is necessary. Ability to learn to and proficiently use various software programs/platforms. Education & Experience A high school education or equivalent. Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred. Knowledge or experience of financial services helpful.
