Members represent a diverse cross-disciplinary network of design professionals, engineers, builders, policymakers, sustainability and energy professionals, etc. committed to high-performing, healthy, and resilient buildings, places, and communities. Together, they strengthen a statewide community advancing better buildings and climate-smart policies across Connecticut. The Position BuildGreenCT seeks a confident, detail-oriented self-starter to help strengthen and grow our membership community. This role combines proactive, high-touch membership stewardship and responsive member support with rigorous data management to track performance, identify patterns, and inform strategies that grow and retain our membership. This is a mission-critical role central to building both financial support and deeper engagement with the organization while cultivating a vibrant green building community in Connecticut. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, volunteer-driven environment and can independently manage multiple moving parts while maintaining professionalism and precision. The person in this role will collaborate with committees composed of board members, advisors, volunteers, and outside consultants and will report to the Executive Director. This is primarily a remote position with occasional in-person event/meeting support in Connecticut. While there is flexibility for the time of work, the expected availability is a standard business workday (9:00-5:00), with occasional availability outside of standard hours (typically within one hour) to support virtual meetings or events. Key Responsibilities Responsive Membership Support (40%)
- Monitor and respond to inquiries sent to the organization's membership email account in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist members with issues related to membership status, member portal login, membership renewals, etc. via telephone and/or email communication.
- Support or conduct follow-up communications to encourage new member sign-ups and membership renewals.
- Track membership inquiry responses, troubleshoot, and resolve issues using Salesforce Cases.
- Prepare and present clear, timely actionable membership reports and insights to committees and the Board to support decision-making. Proactive Membership Stewardship & Engagement (35%)
- Analyze membership trends and engagement metrics within Salesforce, and monitor upcoming renewals to identify patterns, flag risks, and prioritize outreach to support growth and retention goals.
- Identify and support strategies to strengthen member acquisition, retention, and re-engagement, including outreach campaigns, renewal initiatives and the member spotlight program.
- Prepare and share clear, timely, and actionable membership reports and insights, drawing from Salesforce data, with the Membership and Sponsorship Committees and Board of Directors.
- Assist with coordinating member benefits and recognition, ensuring that members receive timely communications and value from their membership.
- Help strengthen member engagement by supporting outreach efforts connected to events, programs, and volunteer opportunities. Data Management & CRM Integrity (15%)
- Proactively identify and resolve data inconsistencies or gaps to maintain a reliable, decision-ready membership database using the Salesforce CRM.
- Maintain accurate membership and contact records, ensuring records are complete, current, and reliable.
- Monitor dashboards and reporting tools in Salesforce to track renewals, engagement, and data quality. Communications/Marketing (10%)
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Marketing Committee, and Marketing consultants to support member-related communications.
- Assist with drafting and proofreading membership announcements, renewal messaging, and engagement communications. Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a nonprofit, membership organization, or association.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and producing error-free work across data, communications, and administrative tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize competing demands.
- Comfortable working with volunteer committees and external partners.
- Experience with web-based CRM systems, Salesforce.org strongly preferred.
- Strong comfort working with data, including the ability to interpret trends, identify issues, and translate insights into action.
- Strong proficiency with Google Workspace and Excel.
Terms & Compensation:
This position may be structured either as a part-time employee role or an independent contractor engagement, depending on candidate preference and qualifications.Compensation:
$20-$30/hour depending on experience (approximately $20,800-$31,200 annually based on 20 hours/week).To Apply:
