POSITION SUMMARY:
Promotes a positive, professional and welcoming atmosphere by providing excellent customer service and exemplifying our YMCA values. Enthusiastically greet members and guests as they come into the YMCA. Provide friendly and efficient service while meeting the needs of members, giving facility tours, and identifying appropriate entry points into programs provided by the YMCA of Abilene.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greet and assist all members, potential members and staff in a courteous, professional and friendly manner. Be enthusiastic towards members by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their YMCA experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities Follow procedures, processes and guidelines as outlined in the Membership/Front Desk Best Practices and Standard Operating Procedures Manual Answer the telephone, provide requested information, direct calls and take accurate messages. Handle potential new member phone inquiries using YMCA best practices Process new member IDs, issue guest passes, register members for programs, account holds, terminations and all other transactions that occur at the Point of Sale Follow proper procedures for corporate memberships, discount groups, scholarships, and guests who come in to use the facility. Follow identification requirements and guest guidelines Provide facility tours —explaining the YMCA mission, benefits of YMCA membership, volunteer opportunities, scholarship program, classes, child care and preschool Provide membership and program (s) information and requirements in an accurate and courteous manner Assist existing and prospective members regarding their individual membership needs Respond to members' needs. Contact appropriate personnel when necessary. Actively listen, reflect and respond to customer questions and concerns in a caring manner. When the opportunity presents itself, go above and beyond to resolve the situation immediately Schedule court reservations, provide equipment and sell YMCA merchandise. Maintain an accurate inventory and record of daily transactions Promote program and membership enrollment with existing and potential members. Promote YMCA programs from all departments and make suggestions for members based on their family's needs Contribute to a member-focused culture with a focus on customer service resulting in increased member retention. Ensure service to our members is of the highest quality Communicate with other front desk colleagues in order to keep everyone updated on all procedural and policy changes. Communications should be centered on the YMCA mission, current goals, objectives and programs Support membership appreciation events Provide great customer service Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Previous customer service, sales or related experience. Basic knowledge of computers.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
