Job Description

The Member & Visitor Experience Specialist serves as the main point of contact for visitors, residents, and Chamber members at the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center. This position is responsible for creating a friendly, helpful, and professional first impression for everyone who walks through the door, calls, or reaches out online. The role focuses on front desk operations, visitor services, membership support, office coordination, and at times, event support. This position may gather photos, visitor stories, and content ideas for marketing purposes, but it does not manage social media accounts or posting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Welcome visitors, residents, and members in a friendly and professional manner. Answer phones, emails, and walk-in questions about Eagle River, local businesses, attractions, events, lodging, dining, and recreation. Provide maps, brochures, guides, and recommendations tailored to visitor needs. Ensure the visitors center reflects the Chamber's brand and the Up North, Down to Earth spirit. Complete data entry and computer-based tasks, including maintaining weekly lists and processing Visitor Guide mailings. Assist current and prospective members with basic membership questions. Support membership onboarding by preparing materials, updating records, and directing more in-depth conversations to the Executive Director. Prepare member e‑newsletters on a regular schedule to keep Chamber members informed and engaged. Help maintain accurate member information in the Chamber database. Support member communications, mailings, and general follow up as assigned. Serve as the primary Chamber contact for members requesting ribbon cutting and milestone celebration support. Perform daily office tasks such as filing, data entry, supply management, and light clerical support. Help maintain internal organization of forms, brochures, guides, and front office systems. Track basic visitor and inquiry data as directed. Support smooth day to day office operations and cross team communication. Capture photos, simple visitor feedback, and story ideas that can be shared with the Executive Director. Flag strong member stories, visitor moments, or event highlights for future promotion.
Note:
This role does not create strategy, manage social accounts, or post content. Qualifications Two or more years of customer service, administrative, or membership related experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to interact professionally with business owners, community leaders, members, and visitors. Comfortable working with the public in a fast paced, visitor facing environment. Basic computer proficiency, including email, data entry, and office software. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and welcoming presence. Knowledge of Eagle River and the surrounding area is preferred, or willingness to learn quickly. Basic understanding of social media Physical and Position Requirements Must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license. Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office during the workday. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work occasional event hours as needed. Reporting structure This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with other Chamber team members. Benefits After successful completion of the 90-day introductory period, employees receive a $500 net allowance. Employees are eligible to participate in the Chamber's SIMPLE retirement plan beginning with the next plan year, subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements.
