Role summary:
The (USA) Associate Merchant supports category management by assisting with supplier negotiations, purchase order administration, and item setup for both stores and online channels. This role collaborates cross-functionally to ensure accurate product content, execute customer communication programs, and analyze sales and financial data to support forecasting and budgeting. The Associate Merchant contributes to feature and promotional planning while leveraging data insights to enhance category performance. This position requires strong vendor relationship management and communication skills to drive business results aligned with organizational goals and customer expectations.
About the team:
The Associate Merchant team for Kids Sleep and Accessory desk manages the product lifecycle to deliver quality everyday low-price sleep and accessory items to Walmart customers. The team collaborates closely with suppliers and internal partners to ensure accurate product setup, effective category strategies, and seamless execution of promotional activities. Utilizing data analysis and business insights, the team supports forecasting, pricing, and assortment decisions. Focused on operational excellence, the team drives continuous improvements to enhance customer experience across channels while maintaining strong vendor relationships and aligning efforts with Walmart's business goals. What you'll do: Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories and subcategories. Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate the setup of new suppliers for stores and online channels. Own execution of customer communication and education programs in stores, collaborating with modular and site merchandising teams. Analyze sales and category performance data to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Implement and support category features, promotions, and modular assortment strategies. Maintain product page content accuracy and manage item setup and sample processes. Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive business solutions and continuous improvement. What you'll bring: Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or e-commerce environments. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and business data to support category strategy and decision-making. Proficiency in managing product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities aligned with business objectives. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. Ability to support category administration, including purchase order management and supplier issue resolution. Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking at the category level. Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and compliance with company policies.
