Full Job Description About The Guild:
(The Guild) is a non-profit, membership association of independent artists founded in 1973 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Its mission is to promote community awareness, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and to maintain a support network for artists, which provides educational, mentoring and marketing opportunities.
Job Description:
This is a temporary position for the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, July 16-18, 2026. Merchandise sales staff will work in merchandise tents on the fair site, selling t-shirts, posters, stickers, hats, etc.
Duties:
Promote an enjoyable buying experience while selling Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair branded merchandise to fair-goers. Accurately ring up purchases, handle cash, and process card payments using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Suggest complementary items to improve the customer experience and boost revenue. Answer questions about the merchandise and the art fair. Maintain a neat and eye-catching display. Restock inventory and refold t-shirts as needed. Monitor sales areas to prevent theft.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a retail environment handling cash and credit card sales. A welcoming and engaging personality. Able to work well in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Requirements:
Applicants must be available to work 6 hour shifts each day of the art fair - July 16-18. Able to work outside (under a tent) in all weather - including heat, humidity, rain or other inclement conditions. Able to lift 25 pounds. Able to stand for extended period of time. Must be able to attend a training session prior to the first day of the fair. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation:
$16.00-$18.00 per hour
Eligibility:
Interested individuals over the age of 18 are eligible. The Guild provides equal opportunity to its applicants.
Transportation:
The Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair takes place in various locations throughout the city of Ann Arbor, close to public transportation and several pay lots. A shuttle will be available during the fair. Transportation will be the responsibility of the applicant.
