Key Skills for Success Core Competencies & Expertise Merchandise & Business Analytics Analyze sales, margin, and product performance across categories Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize assortment and inventory Data Analysis & Visualization Leverage data tools (Excel, BI platforms, SQL, etc.) to extract and interpret large datasets Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor key performance metrics Strategic Insight & Decision Support Translate data into actionable recommendations for merchandising strategies Support assortment planning, product lifecycle decisions, and promotional effectiveness Customer & Market Insights Analyze customer purchasing behavior to inform merchandising decisions Monitor market trends and competitive landscape Financial & Operational Acumen Understand key retail metrics (sales, margin, turn, GMROI, etc.) Evaluate business performance and recommend improvements aligned to financial goals Process Improvement & Automation Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and analytics processes Improve data accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency Preferred Competencies & Skills Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) SQL or data querying experience preferred Retail, merchandising, or consumer analytics experience Experience working with large datasets and cross-functional teams How You'll Work (Behavioral & Leadership Skills)
