Merchandiser/Pro Shop Manager

Overview Since the beginning of the last century, the Country Club of New Bedford has had a great tradition, which has led to its current prestigious reputation in the New England area. The club has a modest beginning that took place before the turn of the century. Between 1916-1923 Willie Park Jr. built some of his best courses in the United States and Canada including Olympia Fields outside of Chicago. Mr. Park was hired in 1922 to redesign the original course. True to his innovative style Mr. Park utilized the natural topography of the land for his design, created a variety of hazards to distract the golfer on all par 3 holes, made strategic shot making a necessity for the approach to each hole and developed the marvelous green complexes for which The Country Club of New Bedford has been heralded for over a century. Tradition comes in many forms at CCNB, not the least of which is the annual August Fourball Invitational Tournament. A week long six round member guest competition with 64 teams, this tournament has attracted quality players from around the country over the years. Billed as the oldest continuously played Fourball of the nation, it was first played as such in August 1927. Our Fourball remains one of the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in New England.

The candidate will:

The Merchandiser will work closely with the Director of Golf to create a first class golf shop. They will also work closely with pro shop staff to keep the golf shop clean and organized. Change displays to give the golf shop a new look weekly. Experience Required Retail or Customer Service Backround is preferred. Welcoming and Friendly Personality. Organizationals Skills is a High Priority. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Self - Motivated individual with the ability to work well with others Essential Responsibilities Assist the Director of Golf with buying, displaying and selling. Assist in all invoicing and reciving of merchandise. Assist in special ordering for members. Assist in running golf shop specials for members. Keep Pro Shop neat and clean at all times.
