Job Description

Parts Counterperson — Night Shift (Truck Dealership) Position Summary The Night Shift Parts Counterperson supports evening service operations for a truck dealership by supplying technicians with accurate parts, maintaining inventory flow, and ensuring repair orders move efficiently during off-peak hours. This role is critical to keeping heavy-duty and fleet units cycling through the shop overnight with minimal downtime. Core Responsibilities Internal Shop Support (Primary Focus) Fulfill parts requests for diesel, heavy-duty, and medium-duty truck repairs. Stage parts by repair order and technician to prevent delays. Verify VIN, engine platform, and configuration before issuing parts. Communicate backorders, substitutions, and ETA updates to the night foreman or service lead.
Retail / Fleet
Assistance (As Needed) Support after-hours fleet accounts, road service teams, and emergency parts requests. Quote and source parts using EPC/DMS tools specific to truck platforms. Process invoices and documentation for next-day posting. Inventory & Receiving Receive and check in late deliveries and emergency shipments. Maintain accurate bin locations for high-velocity truck components. Assist with cycle counts, stock adjustments, and core tracking. Manage returns, cores, and warranty parts staged overnight. Operational Continuity Maintain organization between day and night shifts through clear handoffs. Document parts shortages, technician requests, and follow-ups for the morning team. Keep counter, warehouse, and staging areas clean and audit-ready. Truck-Specific Scope Diesel engine platforms (Cummins, Power Stroke, Duramax, PACCAR, etc.) Drivetrain, suspension, brake, and electrical systems for heavy-duty units Fleet maintenance parts for vocational and commercial trucks Emergency repair and uptime-driven parts sourcing Performance Expectations (KPIs) Technician wait time overnight First-time fill rate for internal repair orders Parts accuracy per RO Backorder tracking and handoff quality to day shift Inventory integrity and overnight receiving accuracy Reduction of lost time on truck repairs Required Skills & Competencies Technical Strong EPC proficiency for truck platforms and diesel configurations Understanding of heavy-duty parts systems and cross-referencing Knowledge of pricing matrices and fleet account structures Familiarity with OEM warranty and core processes Operational Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Prioritization in a production-focused, technician-driven environment Clear documentation for shift transitions High attention to detail and accuracy under time pressure Communication Direct coordination with night foreman, technicians, and dispatch Clear written notes for day-shift continuity Professional interaction with emergency fleet customers Qualifications Experience in truck dealership, diesel parts, or heavy-duty aftermarket preferred Familiarity with dealership DMS/EPC systems (CDK, Reynolds, Procede, etc.) Strong mechanical parts identification skills High school diploma or equivalent; diesel/truck background a plus Physical Requirements Standing and moving throughout warehouse and service lanes Lifting truck parts and materials (frequently 40-70 lbs) Night shift schedule; extended periods in shop/warehouse environment Reporting Structure Reports to:

Pay:
$40,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
