Orama is proud to be partnering exclusively with a pioneering AI developer tools company to place their next Manager of Field Engineering (Pre-Sales). We work with a select group of high-growth technology companies building products that genuinely move the industry forward. This is one of those mandates.
The Role:
The team that wins the technical argument? You'll build it. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who's done the SE work, loved it, and is ready to multiply that impact across a team.
The Product:
They make AI-powered code review that actually works - a system that reads your pull requests, understands context, and gives feedback that helps engineers ship better code, faster. Think of it as the world's most thorough code reviewer, available on every PR, at every hour, for every team. They're in the middle of a massive wave of adoption as engineering orgs realize AI belongs in the SDLC - not just in the IDE.
The Details:
You'll own the pre-sales technical motion end-to-end - hiring and coaching Field Engineers, stepping in on complex enterprise deals, and building the playbooks that scale how we demonstrate value to engineering teams evaluating AI-powered developer tools. You won't just manage. You'll be in it.
What you will do:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Field Engineers supporting enterprise and commercial sales opportunities Partner closely with Account Executives to drive technical discovery, solution design, demos, evaluations, and Proof of Values (PoVs) Coach Field Engineers in real time through strategic customer engagements and complex technical evaluations Establish and maintain high standards for technical excellence, customer engagement, and execution quality across the team Help define and scale repeatable pre-sales methodologies, playbooks, demo environments, and evaluation frameworks Stay engaged with key strategic opportunities and act as an escalation point for complex technical and customer challenges Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams to communicate customer feedback and influence product direction Drive operational rigor across the team, including resource planning, pipeline alignment, forecasting support, and technical account prioritization Recruit, onboard, and develop top-tier Field Engineering talent Partner with Enablement and leadership teams to improve onboarding, training, and career development programs for the Field Engineering organization Stay current on emerging trends in AI-powered development tools, cloud platforms, CI/CD systems, and developer workflows What you will bring: 6+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, including 2+ years leading Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Field Engineering teams Experience supporting enterprise SaaS or developer-focused products in fast-paced, high-growth environments Strong technical background with modern software development tools, cloud platforms, and developer infrastructure Demonstrated ability to coach teams through complex enterprise sales cycles and technical evaluations Experience partnering with Sales leadership on territory planning, strategic accounts, and deal execution Strong organizational and operational skills with the ability to scale processes and teams effectively Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills Ability to build trust with technical practitioners, engineering leaders, and executive stakeholders Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and bias toward execution Passion for AI-powered developer tools and improving software engineering workflows Bonus Points for: Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions) Experience working with AI-native developer platforms or developer productivity tooling Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, and developer governance requirements This is a rare opportunity to shape both the team and the go-to-market motion at a company building something genuinely new in the AI + developer tooling space.
