EVENT SUPERVISOR
Position Overview:
Event Supervisors are responsible for providing outstanding leadership, supervision and support of all day-of-event operations commensurate with Mechanics Hall's reputation as a world class performance and event venue. Event Supervisors must be hands-on managers dedicated to ensuring that events run smoothly and professionally and that the needs of performers, presenters, participants and patrons are fully satisfied. They must also be dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all event participants and attendees and to safeguarding the integrity of the building.
Responsibilities:
Open the Building Inspect event spaces prior to events to ensure that they are clean, properly set up and that all equipment is functioning, lighting is set appropriately, the room temperature is correct and that all emergency exits are free of obstructions Facilitate load-in and set up of vendor equipment Meet with event manger/producer to confirm event details and that all needs are met Provide cash box(es) and point-of-sale device(s) to bar staff Meet with Head Usher and Security personnel to review event details, procedures, and timing and staff assignments. Ensure that staff is deployed appropriately and that they perform their tasks properly Monitor bar operations and provide assistance as needed Ensure all event setup and operations conform to relevant building and safety codes Supervise the movement and use of Hall equipment including pianos and wheelchair lift Monitor event progress and patron behavior. Be on the lookout for any issues or problems that may arise and take action to address them immediately Work with Lead Bartender to complete cash accounting and reconciliation report. Secure cash box(es) in safe Supervise and assist with post-event equipment load out Strike or reset equipment as needed to prepare for next event Close the building
Qualifications:
Courteous, engaging, and friendly personality Previous experience in a supervisory/management role at an events venue Valid Massachusetts Crowd Manager Certification Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to the Mechanics Hall dress code Effectively manage a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally Able to communicate effectively in English Must be observant, thorough, responsible, and punctual Ability to meet physical demands of the position including walking, standing for extended periods, climbing stairs repeatedly and lifting heavy items (50 lbs.) waist high Able to work a varied schedule consisting of nights, weekends, and holidays Must be age 21 or older This part-time, hourly position reports to the Event Operations Manager. Rate of pay is $21-$25 per hour, based on experience. The number of hours per week will vary depending on the events schedule, and night and weekend availability is required.
