Baldwin Community Center is Hiring! Are you a tech savvy individual who enjoys people and is interested in teaching computer and technical skills to an engaging community of older persons? Does working part-time independently in a collaborative, creative, and inclusive neighborhood nonprofit sound like a fit for you? The Living Well Network (LWN)• of the Maria L. Baldwin Community Center is looking for a Technology Advocate to perform home visits to provide people ages 55+ with individualized computer/technology support, and plan and teach computer and technology classes/workshops that are relevant to the LWN community. The Technology Advocate must communicate well and have excellent interpersonal skills. The Technology Advocate will become familiar with other aspects of LWN programming and Maria L. Baldwin Community Center, create congenial relationships with LWN participants, be sensitive to the specific needs of adults 55+ years, and enjoy working with seniors. Responsibilities and Commitments Commit to teaching a minimum of one technology-related class or workshop per quarter, during the program year of October-June (summer hours negotiable) Troubleshoot and solve computer and technology problems through scheduled home visits Maintain a friendly, supportive, and professional manner in all interactions, showing this population respect, care, patience, and understanding Stay current on new and emerging technologies Be a knowledgeable advocate for LWN offerings Meet monthly or as needed with the LWN Manager Other tasks as assigned Knowledge and Skills Necessary Community Building Excellent interpersonal skills Experience and interest working with adults 55+ Self-directed, independent, and self-motivated with the ability to work on a team Knowledgeable of Cambridge community and city services CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to receive training Ability to get to home visits in the Baldwin neighborhood or nearby area (while transportation is not provided, most home visits are accessible by foot or bike). Technical Ability to teach others computer skills, new applications and technologies Expertise in macOS/iOS, Microsoft Windows, Android Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and other popular applications, current and emerging technologies
