Reporting to the Realty Director, the Tribal Land Management Specialist provides technical skills related to processing packages for the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), realty trust policies, procedures, and regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting tribal land sovereignty, executing property acquisitions, and managing real estate transactions that benefit the community and tribal members. The specialist will work closely with members of the Tribal Council, BIA, State of Alaska, and other external agencies to facilitate land purchases, trust applications, easements, leases, and right-of-way (ROW) while ensuring compliance with tribal, federal, and local real estate regulations.
Major Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: Prepares transaction packages by sale, gift deed, rights-of-way, or leases for submittal to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Develop probate documents for submittal to the Department of the Interior, Office of Hearings and Appeals. Develops and maintains current land ownership data for both electronic and paper filing systems. Assists clients in preparation of the Last Will and Testament, codicils, and Revocation of Wills. Required to complete TAAMS training through the Bureau of Indian Affairs and utilize the record system for required reporting. Communicate with Tribal Representatives to gain information and documents required in competing forms and documents. Conduct interviews as necessary with clients to complete required forms. Strictly adheres to realty policies and operating procedures. Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment as required for completing assignments. Maintains strict client and program confidentiality. Conforms to safety policies and general housekeeping practices. Demonstrates sound work ethics, flexibility, and dedication to the position. Demonstrates a positive attitude, is respectful, and possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity toward clients and co-workers. Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Business or Related field preferred. May substitute equivalent years of work experience for degree. Three years of work experience to demonstrate the ability to accomplish the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience in data and records management. Experience preferred in U.S. Department of Interior Indian Affairs Real Estate Services or similar Federal transaction package preparation. Experience preferred in preparing legal documents for real estate transactions.

The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The position requires the ability to sit for an extended period. The position requires a standard range of hearing and eyesight, eye-hand coordination, and manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as a computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and calculator. Employees may be required to lift approximately 30 pounds. Travel to remote locations by boat, snowmobile, ATV, or small plane is required, and employees must be willing and able to travel.
Hours of Work:
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Chugachmiut maintains a drug/alcohol-free and non-smoking work environment.
