ABOUT THE ROLE
Michael Saunders & Company is looking for a Commission Processing Specialist to own the end-to-end calculation and disbursement of real estate commissions. This is a detail-intensive, numbers-first role sitting at the intersection of real estate transactions and finance. You will work directly with agents, brokers, and the accounting team to ensure every transaction closes with accurate, timely commission payments. Our primary commission tracking platform is Profit Power, and prior experience with it is a strong plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Calculate commissions from closed real estate transactions, applying the correct splits, co-broke arrangements, and deductions per each agent agreement Process and verify commission disbursements in Profit Power, ensuring accuracy before any payment is released Review commission agreements, referral fees, and franchise deductions for each transaction Maintain organized records of all commission payments, adjustments, corrections, and disputes Coordinate with agents, brokers, and branch managers to resolve discrepancies quickly Reconcile commission data against Sage Intacct and report variances to the accounting team Prepare commission reports for management on a weekly and monthly basis Process deductions including E&O insurance, marketing charges, desk fees, and other agreed offsets Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and commission data Stay current on Florida real estate regulations, IRS 1099 requirements, and commission compliance standards Support payroll processing functions as needed, including internal staff compensation Identify process gaps and suggest improvements to workflows and system usage
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred Prior experience in commission processing, real estate accounting, payroll, or a similar finance/admin role Working knowledge of real estate transaction structures, commission splits, and industry terminology Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organization Strong attention to detail with a low tolerance for errors in financial data Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with agents and brokers Ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet recurring deadlines without dropping the ball Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on experience with Profit Power Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting/ERP systems Background as a real estate transaction coordinator or title/closing professional Familiarity with Florida real estate law and 1099 reporting requirements Experience using commission tracking or payroll platforms in a brokerage environment Strong problem-solving instincts, especially when chasing down discrepancies across multiple data sources
