We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our firm with a primary focus on family law, probate, and estate planning. The successful candidate will manage client matters from intake through resolution, draft and review legal documents, provide strategic legal advice, and represent clients in court, mediation, and administrative proceedings. This role requires substantive knowledge in family law, probate, and estate planning, strong advocacy and communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent client service. Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload in family law, probate, and estate planning matters, from client intake through resolution.
Draft, review, and file pleadings, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, settlement agreements, guardianship documents, and other legal instruments.
Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients on divorce, custody, support, property division, probate administration, and estate planning options.
Prepare for and appear at court hearings, mediations, depositions, and administrative proceedings; represent clients in negotiations and dispute resolution.
Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and regulations to develop effective legal strategies.
Coordinate with partners, paralegals, and support staff to manage deadlines, discovery, and case logistics.
Communicate regularly with clients to explain legal options, case status, and next steps; maintain client files and documentation.
Assist in client development activities, including consultations, community outreach, and networking; contribute to firm growth initiatives.
Manage time effectively to meet billable hour targets and firm productivity goals while maintaining high-quality legal work.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing law, with demonstrated experience in family law, probate, and estate planning (experience in any of these areas required).
Proven skills in legal drafting, case preparation, client counseling, and courtroom or mediation advocacy.
Strong legal research and analytical abilities; familiarity with relevant statutes, case law, and court procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, client-service orientation, and interpersonal strengths.
Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable using case management software, efiling systems, and common office technology.
Nice-to-have:
experience in litigation, broader civil practice experience, and familiarity with general law firm operations and legal ethics.
